Lumber camp crew in Harrisville

A lumber camp crew group photo, in Harrisville, NY. Note that there are many native people among the workers (possibly from Awkwesasne), as well as women and a young girl on the far right; most likely they helped run the camp as cooks and washerwomen. The workers are pictured with “double bitted” axes, which had two chopping surfaces. Circa 1890-1900. Harrisville, NY.
