Pulling a logging skidway icer in Colton

A team of draft horses pulling a skidway icer.  The machine is a box on skis holding a barrel of  hot water. As it was pulled the icer “lay” water in a thin stream which hardened into ice, creating a slippery surface–easier for horses to pull logs and sleighs out of the woods. Circa 1900 around Colton, NY.
