Hammering in stakes at Cross Island Farms on Wellesley Island
David Belding, on the ladder, hammers in a post held straight by Dani Baker, right. They are hammering in the stakes to create lines for planting. Baker & Belding started Cross Island Farms, a certified organic farm, in 2006. They grow over 150 varieties of vegetables, maintain an edible ‘forest garden’, and keep chickens, ducks, goat, and cows. David and Dani run the farm, and to make the farm financially possible, David also runs an industrial services company. Circa 2000-2010. Wellesley Island, NY. Courtesy of David Belding.
