Taking a break from filling a silo with corn silage in Hermon

A crew of farm workers rest beside stooks (stacks or piles) of corn with a Green Mountain silo in the background. Corn was chopped before being fed into the silo, where winter feed for livestock was stored. This was very dusty work. One worker wears an early respirator. Circa 1900-1910. Hermon, NY.
