St. Regis Paper Company teams of horses in Deferiet
“Teams of horses were employed to construct the canal at our first mill in Deferiet, New York. The canal was used to channel water to the plant from the Black River. Construction on the giant project was completed in 1901.” Circa 1900. Deferiet, NY. Originally printed in the St. Regis News Volume 2, Number 9 of September 1974, a newsletter put out by the St. Regis Paper Company.
