Horses towing railroad engine on the Raquette Lake Railroad in the Town of Long Lake

Caption on the photo reads: Here’s one that should tickle you! On the old Raquette Lake Railroad, division 14 in 1915. Engineer was Joe Gantner who ran out of water and rather than let the train master know about it, borrowed the baggage man’s horse and got towed. We bet that after leading this horse to water he DID drink and probably took on more water than the engine. Thanks to the picture’s owner, Mr. Putney of Remsen, N.Y. 1915. Located in the Town of Long Lake.
